Recently, I decided to paint my metal vintage gas can, so that it looks nice again and to recycle it for gasoline.  I found out what is the best paint to use that will stand up to gas, and would be the most durable.

I created a step by step tutorial with photos and instructions at "How To Repaint Old Gas Cans To Reuse" http://www.zujava.com/paintgascans. Very high temperature flat red VHT paint was highly recommended to me at the paint shop, it provides a flame proof coating with a silica ceramic finish.

Everyone knows that gas cans have to be red, as a safety warning of flammable liquid inside the cans. I chose the matted finish, which is also called a powder coat with a soft look.
